Air Conditioning

The National Electrical Code and Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning have some shared roles for both electricians and HVAC Installers and technicians. There are some specific categories in the NEC that are applied to HVAC and making calculations for circuits and wire sizing for HVAC appliances. Article 440 does not cover such household appliances as room air-conditioners, household refrigerators and freezers, drinking water coolers, or beverage dispensing machines, because these are appliances and must comply with Article 422.  Article 440 requires you to locate the disconnecting means within sight of, and readily accessible from, the air-conditioning or refrigerating equipment.

We will look at the requirements for overcurrent protection of conductors and go over some of the do's and don'ts of tap conductors!

CEU - Connecticut/Westchester

CEU - Putnam County

All Putnam County master electricians are required to show proof of having taken continuing education in order to renew their electrical license. Electrical journeymen are required to show proof of having taken continuing education EACH YEAR prior to their renewal term. Putnam County License Holders must show required MANDATORY IDENTIFICATION:

• ALL ACTIVE license holders will have to show their current license and another ID.
• ALL SHELVED license holders will have to show two ID's - one will have to be a photo ID.

CEU - Suffolk County

This class earns FOUR (of the required 8) CEU hours for Suffolk County Electrical License renewal. BRING YOUR 2017 NEC CODE BOOK WITH YOU TO CLASS!

CEU - Ulster County

Ulster County Requires SIX CEU HOURS PER YEAR for Ulster County Electrical License renewal. Classes are presented as follows:

• FOUR HOUR CLASS
• TWO HOUR CLASS

CEU - Westchester and other jurisdictions

ONE SESSION for Multiple License Holders. We provide all your requirements the same day!  First 4 hours will be Westchester requirements for Electrical License holders and after a break we will continue with remaining CEU hours to meet ALL other requirements. License Holders must show required MANDATORY IDENTIFICATION:

• ALL ACTIVE license holders will have to show their current license and another ID.
• ALL SHELVED license holders will have to show two ID's - one will have to be a photo ID.

• Westchester CEU:  4 Hours

CEU – Connecticut

CEU – New Jersey

Continuing Education Requirements:  Electrical Contractors:  34 hours - 9 relating to most recent NEC; 1 hour on state statutes and rules; 24 hours covering installation, repair or alteration of electrical equipment for generation, transmission of electrical energy and business practices.  Job Safety practices, supervisory responsibilities required by NJ and other topics relevant to electrical contracting.

CEU – New York City

In partnership with ETC8 Hour Master & Special Electrician RenewalNew York City has Mandated Continuing Education for all Electrical License Holders; this includes ACTIVE AND/OR SHELVED.You will be required to present your Electrical License and your Driver's License.

CEU – Orange County

All Class B and Class C licenses issued must be renewed annually on or before the date of expiration.  Each application for renewal of a license must be accompanied by proof that the individual has successfully completed a refresher course on changes to the New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code and the current National Electrical Code version adopted by New York State.Failure of a licensed Master Electrician to renew such license after fifteen days of the expiration date shall result in a penalty of $50.00.  If renewal is not received within thirty days from the expiration date, it shall result in revocation of the license unless, upon good cause shown, an additional thirty day extension by the Board.

CEU – Rockland County

**NEW REQUIREMENTS** Rockland County now requires FIVE CONTINUING EDUCATION HOURS PER YEAR. This class presents the 2020 National Electric Code as well as Rockland County Local Law Section 250 and its Rules and Regulations. ALL CLASSES MUST BE HELD IN PERSON. (Remote / On-line / Zoom/ Teams, etc. classes are not permitted.)

CEU – Westchester County

Fulfill your required four hour CEU’s to renew your Westchester County Electrical License.

Con Edison Blue Book Simplified

• Have you failed a Con Edison service inspection in the past year even though it was NEC compliant and passed by an electrical inspector?
• Do you know how far the service cable assembly can be horizontally from insulator attached to the structure in an overhead installation?

Conductor Sizing

Your estimate is the FOUNDATION of most construction projects. In this course, you will be GUIDED THROUGH the various phases of the bidding process including:

• Takeoff
• Estimating
• and Bidding

• generate material lists
• apply pricing and labor units to the material list
• identify and correct common estimating mistakes
• and understand the importance of establishing the project's cost.

Electrical Test Prep

BEFORE registering for this class, we recommend you be PRE-APPROVED BY THE LICENSING BOARD to take the exam.  Part of the success of this training is that you complete the class and take the exam immediately or very soon thereafter. Be prepared to take your Master Electricians Test!  This college level course that will prepare you for your Master Electricians Exam in Westchester, Putnam, Rockland*, Orange Counties, counties throughout New York and the State of Connecticut.   This course requires 10 to 12 hours of homework and 3 to 6 hours a week of classroom instruction.  Students must have the required 7½ years work experience in order to take the exam. NOTE:  You must apply to The Westchester County Licensing Board to take the Westchester County exam. *ATTENTION STUDENTS STUDYING FOR THE ROCKLAND EXAM:  Additional classes will be scheduled for ROCKLAND students for a small additional fee.

Electrical Test Prep (NYC) – Practical

Prerequisite: Students must have already passed the written test (License Theory Exam) This course will prepare you to take the NEW YORK CITY Master's Electrician PRACTICAL License Exam!  Class meets once per week on Tuesdays from 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm Offered in collaboration with Electrical Training Course

Electrical Test Prep (NYC) – Theory

Be prepared to take the NEW YORK CITY Master's Electrician License Exam!  This is a 6 month course that will prepare you for your NEW YORK CITY Master Electricians Exam.   Class meets each Tuesday from 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm. Practical (Hands-On) to start several weeks after course completion after all students have taken exam. Offered in collaboration with Electrical Training Course.

Electrical Test Prep REFRESHER - offered exclusively to those who have previously completed our 14-week test prep class

• This class is offered exclusively to those students who have previously COMPLETED OUR 14-week Electrical Test Prep class.
• YOU MUST BE PRE-APPROVED BY SWIS TRAINING TO TAKE THIS CLASS.

• Complete the registration form below – NO PAYMENT IS REQUIRED UNTIL YOU ARE APPROVED TO TAKE THIS CLASS.

Grounding & Bonding AND MORE

The importance of bonding and grounding in commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings cannot be overstated. The grounded circuits of machines need to have an effective return path from the machines to the power source in order to function properly. In addition, non-current-carrying metallic components in a facility, such as equipment cabinets, enclosures, and structural steel, need to be electrically interconnected so voltage potential cannot exist between them.

Journeyman Test Prep

Be prepared to take your Journeyman Test! All helpers looking to become a Journeyman, after five years, are required to test. This class meets for eight 3 hour sessions and will prepare you for your  Journeyman Test. This course requires 3 hours a week of classroom instruction as well as homework. Students must have the required work experience in order to take the exam. You must apply to the Putnam County or State of Connecticut Licensing Board to take the exam.

Pipe Bending Class
